Srinagar: The annual review workshop of the National Agriculture Higher Education Project (NAHEP)-Institutional Development Plan (IDP) was recently held at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Srinagar. The workshop reviewed the technical and financial progress of all the 22 IDP projects functioning in different State Agriculture and Central Agriculture Universities of the country.
Dr. RC Agarwal, DDG (Education) cum National Director, NAHEP was the Chairman of the Review Committee along with five members of the expert committee constituting former Vice-Chancellors of different universities. National coordinators on Project Monitoring, Finance and Audit also constituted the high power review committee.
Dr. Manish Kumar, Dean, College of Horticulture and Dr. KK Raina PI of IDP attended the workshop and presented its technical report which was highly appreciated by the committee for the successful execution of the IDP project. The performance of the IDP- Solan was included in the top band of highest performing universities which also has three other universities- SKUAST- Srinagar, GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantanagar and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Chennai.
The IDP project is envisaged for the enhancement of quality education at undergraduate levels. Under this project, a total of 32 students have availed overseas exposure opportunities to the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok and another batch of 10 students to Western Sydney University, Australia while 27 faculty have visited different countries like the UK, Germany, Australia, France, Israel and South Korea for 2-6 weeks training programmes. Additionally, smart and virtual classrooms, a language lab, open-air theatre, an alumni engagement centre, e-carts, laundry, solar lights along with trainings on soft skills and personality development have also been organised to improve the overall learning environment with special attention on making the students multi-skilled.
Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor congratulated the IDP team for this achievement and called on for concerted efforts towards achievement of all the designated goals and objectives. He advised that all the financial and technical targets must be achieved timely for bringing further honour and glory to the university.
