CN Canada Network:  On January 20, 2025, Donald J. Trump took the oath of office for his second term as President of the United States. The ceremony took place at the U.S. Capitol, with Chief Justice Roberts administering the presidential oath.

Trump Takes the Oath to Protect the Constitution

President Trump swore to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution. He pledged to "faithfully execute" the role of President and promised to do everything in his power to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

Vice President James David Vance was also sworn in during the ceremony, pledging to support the Constitution and defend the country.

Trump’s Vision for the Future of America

In his inaugural speech, President Trump promised a bright future for the United States, saying the "Golden Age of America begins now." He emphasized that his presidency would focus on putting America’s needs first and restoring national strength and prosperity.

Trump said, “I return to the presidency with confidence and optimism,” outlining his plans to improve the country’s security, economy, and government. He promised to restore trust in the government and fix issues that have been neglected for years.

A New Approach to the Nation’s Problems

In his speech, Trump made it clear that he wanted to change the way the country is being run. He promised to strengthen the borders, bring back American jobs, and reduce crime. He also said that he would work to bring back American manufacturing and improve the economy.

One of his first actions as President was to declare a national emergency at the southern border. He also announced he would reinstate the "Remain in Mexico" policy, which was part of his immigration plan during his first term.

Rebuilding America’s Strength and Pride

Trump’s speech focused on making America stronger both at home and abroad. He said the country would once again be a leader in the world and that all citizens, regardless of race or background, would benefit from his leadership.
