A 10-member student contingent of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni was flagged off on Wednesday evening for a three-week International training programme at Western Sydney University, Australia. 

Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar at Chandigarh today and discussed various bilateral issues. He said that the water cess to be imposed by the Himachal government on hydropower projects set up in Himachal Pradesh would not cause any loss to Haryana.

Education Minister, Rohit Thakur launched 'Him Text ' a free social networking App developed by Harshit Bhandari, here today. He said that this app is developed to share huge amount of data and was equipped with special features that would ensure the privacy of the user.

The ongoing annual sale of temperate fruit planting material by Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni has already seen the sale of over 1.50 lakh plants of different fruit varieties of apple, kiwi, plum, peach, apricot, pear, persimmon, walnut, etc.

Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni held a special talk on ‘Swami Vivekanand as an Inspiration to the modern youth’ as part of the National Youth Day celebrations. Addressing the students, CS Talwar, former Special Secretary (Health) Punjab and Founder General Secretary, Swami Vivekananda Study Centre, Punjab shared several inspirational stories from the life of Swami Vivekanand, whose birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day.

Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor flagged off the bus to Delhi from where they will be boarding their flight to Bangkok.

Known for its beautiful landscape, the agricultural produce of the Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh is much sought after in the country. The low usage of chemical fertilizers makes this region suitable for natural farming practices. 

The  Department of Environmental Science, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni in collaboration with Ambuja Cement Foundation, Darlaghat organized a workshop on the theme ‘Ways to fight climate change’ to find out the sector-wise adaptation and mitigation strategies to combat climate change.

Following Adani Group’s core philosophy of Growth with Goodness, Adani Cement conducted a Reward & Recognition programme for truck drivers at the Darlaghat cement plant this week. Adani Cement, the cement vertical of Adani Group of which Ambuja Cements and ACC Ltd are a part, cares of its people.  Under the company’s ‘Safety Champion Drivers 2022’ programme, 20 truck drivers were selected for the award and now have been recognised for their safe driving skills.

The 1991-95 batches alumni meet 'Sangam 2022' was organized on the theme of Yara Naal Baharan at the Government Post Graduate College Dharamshala campus. The meet was organized under the guidance of IPS officer Vimukt Ranjan, a 1991 batch student.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today visited Model Children Home and Old Age Home, Nari Sewa Sadan at Mashobra and Institute for Children with Special Abilities at Dhalli, Shimla (ICSA). He took stock of the facilities being provided to the inmates and also interacted with the inmates of these institutions. He directed the officers to ensure best facilities to the inmates.

HIMSamwaad- 2022, a three-day Trans Himalayan conference on Localized Solutions and Implementation Strategy concluded at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry(UHF), Nauni with a call for garnering the support of all institutions in the conservation of the Himalayas.

MLA from Jawali and Senior Congress Leader Prof. Chander Kumar took the Oath of Office of Protem Speaker in the presence of Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at a simple ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan here today. Mukesh Agnihotri, Deputy Chief Minister was also present on the occasion.

The Congress would form the government and it is a writing on the wall, said party leader Vikramaditya Singh, as his party crossed the majority mark of 35 seats. The hill state has 68 seats, and a party needs 35 seats to win. The Congress surged ahead of the BJP as it was leading on 40 of the 68 seats while the ruling party was ahead on 25.

In Himachal Pradesh, Congress has taken a lead over the BJP, indicating a much-needed win for the deflated party. Independent candidates are key to the race as they may foil attempts of any one party to reach the majority. 

As part of the 38th Foundation Day celebrations of the university, a one-day workshop on the theme ‘Strengthening of Alumni network: Awareness Campaign on Entrepreneurship Opportunities and Job availabilities in Forestry and Horticulture Sector’ was organized on Thursday at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry. The workshop was organised under the IDP-NAHEP project of ICAR.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar launched seven new schemes for prisoners initiated by the Prisons and Correctional Services Department, Himachal Pradesh at Model Central Prison, Kanda near Shimla, today. These include meditation program, telemedicine project, financial literacy program, waste management, free online coaching, audio library and release of poetry collection 'Parwaz'.

Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN today informed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between SJVN’s wholly owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) and Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) at Bhubaneswar. The MoU has been inked for developing 1000 MW Hydro Electric Project and 2000 MW Solar Power Project in Odisha by incorporating a Joint Venture Company.

Leading private university of the country, Shoolini University has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with various universities in Taiwan for exchange of students and faculty. MOUs were signed on behalf of Shoolini University in Taiwan by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Atul Khosla. The first one was signed with Cheng Shui University, while the second one was signed with I-Shou University.

Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni will be partnering with Heartfulness Education Trust (HET), Hyderabad to start yog, meditation and happiness courses for its students. This collaboration will be part of the recently signed MoU on behalf of agricultural universities by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and HET.

 Addressing the press conference, Bharatiya Janata Party's state president Suresh Kashyap said that all-star campaigners of Bharatiya Janata Party will be starting *”Vijay Sankalp Abhiyan”* on 30 October 2022 in all 68 assembly constituencies of the state. He said that 32 star campaigners would address public meetings in various districts and assembly constituencies of the state. State Taxes and Excise Commissioner Yunus informed here today that action against illegal liquor is going on by the Special Task Force constituted by the State Taxes and Excise Department. In different parts of the state, the team raided under the Excise Act and took action in revenue districts Baddi, Kangra, Chamba, Una, Mandi, Hamirpur, Nurpur, he said.
