Karandeep/Canada- Region of Peel – Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a 35-year-old Mississauga man in connection with a series of violent criminal offences involving forcible confinement, robbery with a firearm, and extortion.
On December 4, 2024, a male victim was forcibly restrained at a residence in Mississauga, where he was threatened and forced to hand over money. The suspect allegedly retrieved various bank cards from the victim’s home before coercing him to withdraw a large sum of money from a financial institution. The victim was later released unharmed.
A second incident occurred on January 1, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., when the suspect reportedly returned to the victim’s home armed with a handgun. During this encounter, the suspect forced his way into the residence, confronted a second victim, and stole miscellaneous items.
On January 3, 2025, investigators, with the assistance of the Tactical Unit, executed a search warrant at a Mississauga residence. During the search, police seized:
- A Sig Sauer p320 firearm
- Three prohibited magazines
- Ammunition hidden in a furnace
- A pellet gun
- Identification belonging to the victim
The accused, identified as Darko Jugova, is currently on bail release. He was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Forcible Confinement
- Robbery
- Robbery with a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Break and Enter
- Extortion
Jugova has been held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
“Repeat violent offenders endanger our community and threaten lives,” said Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Marc Andrews. “Our investigators will continue to work relentlessly to keep our community safe and are committed to ensuring those responsible for these criminal acts are held accountable.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
