Karandeep-Canada : Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, on the margins of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Lima, Peru. He was joined by the Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, Mary Ng.
The Prime Minister and the President reaffirmed their interest in strengthening the Canada-Chile relationship by building on strong trade and economic ties. They highlighted their commitment to common priorities, including climate action, gender equality, engagement with Indigenous Peoples, and renewable energy, such as nuclear power. They also underlined the need to work together to develop reliable and sustainable critical mineral value chains for resilient economies.
The two leaders discussed global issues, including the ongoing need to support Ukraine in the face of Russia’s illegal and unjustifiable war of aggression. They agreed to work together to protect democracy and human rights in the Americas and around the world.
Prime Minister Trudeau and President Boric agreed to stay in close contact and looked forward to ongoing collaboration.
