Mohali: The food safety wing Mohali alongwith a team from SDM office visited derrabassi and zirakpur and did inspection of sweet manufacturing units in lieu of the festival season. Team collected about 8 samples of various sweet items like dhoda barfi patisa dry fruit etc.
These inspections are being done as per instructions by mr Abhinav Trikha commissioner food and drug administration pb..
Dr subhash DHO Mohali said that a DLAC meeting was also done few days back under the chairmanship of Deputy commissioner Mohali regarding food safety.Deputy commissioner Mr Amit Talwar directed all the food business operators particularly sweet shops not to sell spurious and adulterated sweets.he also directed the food Deptt to take strict action against the offenders.i request all the presidents of various food associations to follow food safety guidelines and use only self made khoya and permitted colours only to manufacture sweets.honourable health minister sh.chetan Singh jauromajra is very much concerned about adulteration in various food items especially milk and milk products. Food team Mohali did a special campaign few days back for sweets covered with silver leaf and took 16 samples to check adulteration with aluminium. Team also took 22 samples of milk and milk products to check adulteration in lieu of festival season.we again want to tell all sweet shop owners to display best before date on all sweets and also on loose food items. The offenders will be issued challans for non compliance. Special emphasis will be on hygiene and cleanliness in the manufacturing areas if the premises. All food business operators small vendors and big shops should immediately apply for food registration and licence .this is mandatory for all.we will intensify our raids in near future to check and stop adulteration.
