UP Yoddhas beat Haryana Steelers, Jump to Fifth Position

Chandigarh : UP Yoddhas, the GMR owned franchisee representing the state of Uttar Pradesh showcased an all-round performance today to return with a confident 40-34 win over Haryana Steelers tonight here at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune. Raiders shined bright for UP Yoddhas with Surender Gill earning his seventh Super 10 with a total of 11 points, Captain Pardeep Narwal returned with eight points while youngster Rohit Tomar earned four crucial points in the game. Today UP Yoddhas also showcased some exceptional defensive skills with Ashu Singh earning four tackle points while Nitesh Kumar and Sumit earned three tackle points each along with Gurdeep who earned a lone tackle point as a substitute. With this win over Haryana Steelers UP Yoddhas jumped five places to the fifth position with 35 points to their kitty in the Pro Kabaddi League standings. UP Yoddhas now face Telugu Titans tomorrow 12th November 2022. The game will be the second game of the night in the weekend triple header, and the LIVE broadcast for the matches will begin 7:30 PM onwards on Star Sports Network and Disney Hotstar.

 

Haryana Steelers won the toss and put UP Yoddhas to raid first. UP Yoddhas did not let the opportunity go by and Captain Pardeep Narwal struck first blood in the opening raid of the game. Thereafter Haryana Steelers came back strong to earn back-to-back points as the scoreboard read 1-5 to the latter’s favour. Thereafter UP Yoddhas raid and defence worked in tandem tonight as they raced ahead to inflict the first All Out on Haryana Steelers in the 7th minute of the first half. The scoreboard at this moment read 10-5 to the favour of UP Yoddhas. Once after this Haryana Steelers tried making a coming back and reduced the five-point deficit to just one but could not equalize as UP Yoddhas capitalized on their momentum and slender lead through a super raid and a super tackle to finish the half with an impressive 8-point lead as the scoreboard read 20-12 to their favour.

 

Haryana Steelers started on impressive note in the second half taking the lead with some excellent raiding and tackles as the scoreboard read 24-25 to their favour. But today UP Yoddhas were in no mood to let their momentum get spoiled, and the team struck back with some impressive multi point raids through Captain Pardeep Narwal and Surender Gill coupled with some heroic tackles from the defenders inflicting a second All Out on Haryana Steelers with just 5 minutes to go. The scoreboard at this point was 33-26 to the favour of UP Yoddhas. Hereon while Haryana Steelers made some impressive efforts but could never catch up to UP Yoddhas as they displayed a thorough all-round performance to walk away with a confident 40-34 win.
