There is no shorcut to hard work: Vikash Rathour

Beyond the man in a chef’s apron, Vikas Rathour is an amazing personality as well. His passion for food, love for cooking, people skill and demeanour are remarkable. He has set exemplary standards in the culinary industry and taken Indian food to global levels. He is adept at making healthy and delicious recipes, be it Rajasthani, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marwadi or more.
Chef Vikas, who is currently working as Culinary Manager at Mehfil Restaurant, Asheville, North Carolina, is also a member of ICF (Indian Culinary Forum).
Here is a one-to-one with celebrity Chef Vikas Rathour for all the foodies out there.
Q: How has your journey been till now?
A: I belong to a small town in Himachal Pradesh, but moved to Delhi to pursue my passion for cooking and achieve higher goals. I started training at ITDC and after successful completion of the course, started my career with the Radisson group. I later served at many key positions with Claridges, Crown Plaza and Lalit.

 


Q: What are some highlights of your career?
A: During my career, I have served dignitaries and government officials. I have also carried out some key events like the German Unification Day and US National Day at the German and US embassy, respectively.
Q: What is your message to aspiring youngsters out there?
A: If I can make it big with hard work and dedication, they can also do it. Remember, there is no shortcut to hard work. Also, one should always dream big.
