Meeting held regarding norms for enshrining holy saroop at Sindhi, Nirmale, Udasi places of worship

Sub-committee was formed by Akal Takht Sahib after actions in the name of satkar committees

Amritsar: In view of the circumstances that arose in the past after some people in the name of satkar committees stopped Parkash (enshrinement) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Sindhi, Nirmala, Udasi community’s places of worship, the meeting of sub-committee formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib to decide norms in this regard was held in Amritsar today at the office of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

On this occasion, representatives of various Sindhi, Nirmala, and Udasi community organizations and Sampradas (sect) participated, to discuss the matter and present their suggestions. During the meeting, a commitment was expressed to follow the norms of enshrining holy saroop (scripture) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib approved by Sri Akal Takht Sahib and accordingly, the need for joint efforts to perform this work was emphasized.

The coordinator of the sub-committee and honorary secretary at Secretariat, Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat Gurmeet Singh said that Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib had formed this committee based on the representatives of different sampradas in view of the complaints received from the Sangat for a long time.

“The purpose of this is to consider the matter and incidents of picking up of holy saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from different places by some people who call themselves as representatives of the satkar committees and especially to discuss this matter about the Sindhi, Nirmala, Udasi community places of worship. Sri Akal Takht Sahib has not given anyone the right to forcefully pick up the holy saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, but some people are doing such action in the name of so-called satkar committees”, said Gurmeet Singh.

He said if there is a case of violation of Maryada (conduct), only the SGPC members, preachers, managers, and management of the respective area historical Gurdwara Sahib can investigate the matter and send its report to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

He said that the sub-committee has made some recommendations after discussions with the representatives of Sindhi, Nirmale, and Udasi communities and Sikh scholars, which have been sent to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said that all the members involved in this meeting have agreed to work within the scope of the regulations to be approved by Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding the enshrinement of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He expressed hope that Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib will soon take the next decision in this regard.

Present in the meeting included Swami Shanta Nand Udasin Jalandhar, Mahatma Muni Ji, Mahant Raminder Das, Sant Sukhwant Singh, Mahant Amrit Muni, Kishan Lal Lucknow from Sindhi community, Sikh scholars Dr Chamkaur Singh and Dr Paramvir Singh, Gurmeet Singh Kar Sewa Baba Kharak Singh, Barjinderpal Singh Lucknow, Gurmeet Singh coordinator, Jaskaran Singh writer SGPC (IT) were present.
