Amritsar: More than 300 students were awarded degrees during the convocation organized at the Trai Shatabadi (tri-centenary) Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College in Amritsar under the management of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami who arrived on this occasion, congratulated the students awarded degrees and encouraged them to contribute for the betterment of the society during the next stages of life. He said that the purpose of education is not only academic achievements but it is connected with the overall human development for the establishment of a compact society. He said that guidelines learned in educational institutions are very important for human life that stay with a person throughout life. Expressing his happiness, he said that this educational institution, established by the SGPC on the occasion of the third centenary of the Khalsa Sajna Diwas, has made important achievements during its journey and it has been successful in fulfilling its purpose.
He said that the SGPC is playing a major role in the promotion of education and more than 100 educational institutions are an example. He encouraged the students to spread the word about the achievements of the college and the educational activities of the SGPC after completing their education.
Before this, the principal of the college Dr Kulwinder Singh welcomed the dignitaries present including SGPC President, and shared information about the courses and other activities conducted by the college. While presenting the report, he revealed the contribution of the students who have studied here in the past to society as well as their role in education, sports, culture, and religious field. The stage management was done by Prof Gurjant Singh.
Present on this occasion included SGPC member Ram Singh, Harjap Singh Sultanwind, OSD Satbir Singh Dhami, assistant secretary Shahbaz Singh, Principal Dr Kulwinder Singh, Dr Rupinder Singh, Prof Jatinder Kaur, Prof Harjit Kaur, superintendent Bibi Ramandeep Kaur, and others.
